When it comes time to actually start construction, it can be a bit nerve-wracking, especially when you’ve done so much preparation beforehand.

Then, your builder will schedule a site visit with you to get things started. This is a great opportunity to talk about any concerns or questions you may have about the property.
This will include a site survey to ensure that your home’s location is clear from other structures on the land and that there are no utilities, such as water or gas lines, that need to be moved before you start construction. This process also involves excavating and leveling the building site.
Once the foundation is poured, your builder will begin the framing phase. This includes installing walls, windows and doors and the floors and roof systems. This is also when the construction team will install a protective shield on your home, known as a house wrap, to keep moisture away from the frame and keeping wood rot and mold at bay. This is a particularly important step if the weather is wet during construction.
